Let’s make your school and community RAD! 🌟

Calling all high school kaiako and community champions! Are you passionate about empowering the next generation of digital thinkers and leaders!? Wherever you are in Aotearoa, help us lead this kaupapa by considering the opportunity of starting a RAD Club in your school.

Dive into the world of the tech with your students, and help fill a need for devices in your community. Join in with Recycle A Device (RAD) and grab the reigns of our skills-focused movement to shrink the digital divide!

So. . .how does it work?

Paying it Forward: Gifting Laptops – half of the refurbished devices are gifted into your own community where you identify need, and RAD helps find the other half a new home in another deserving community in Aotearoa. Too cool, eh!?

Kaitiakitanga: Capable Caretakers – through this journey and commitment, rangatahi learn and experience firsthand about resource recovery, ethics of e-waste, how a circular economy can work as well as the skills to carry out each step of the process. Hello sustainability!

Why become a RAD club champion?

🌱

Tech Wizardry: Rangatahi Training – RAD arranges sessions to train your rangatahi in the tech skills needed to diagnose and refurbish pre-loved laptops by replacing parts and generally breathing new life into them.

Where the Party is: RAD Club – rangatahi, along with your support, run a RAD club that refurbishes laptops and collaborates to solve tech problems. Think extra-curricular club, in-class credits (yes, you might even be able to throw some extra NCEA credits their way for this!) or community group, whatever best fits into your situation.

Empowered Δ€konga – RAD isn't just about laptops; it's about helping transform students into tech wizards with hands-on experiences, skills training and leadership opportunities.

Community Engagement – foster community and social responsibility by actively contributing to positive social outcomes through tech empowerment.

Solid STEM Skills – elevate learning in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) plus collaborative social skills to set rangatahi on a sturdy path to success, possibly even within the tech industry!

Sustainability Superpowers – model meaningful strategies for effective environmental responsibility by offering the real-world experience in managing tech resources, reimagining cycles of waste and understanding the impacts.
